About Department
The purpose of the Department of Field Crops is to do researches, education and teaching on the subjects related with the growing and breeding of cereals, legumes, oilseed & fibre crops, sugar and starch crops, growing aromatic and medicinal plants, management and breeding of pasture and forage crops.
The Department of Field Crops has comprises three sub-sections, which are plant breeding and genetics, agronomy and pasture and forage crops.
The Department has 21 academic (10 Prof., 5 Asc. Prof., 3 Ass. Prof., 3 Ress. Asst.,) and 5 technical and official staff. The Department has field areas, greenhouse, tractors, harvest machines and all of the equipments used for research education and production. There are 9 modern laboratories such as tissue culture, seed technology of field crops, biotechnology, tobacco, aromatic and medicinal plants, physical analyses, physiology, protoplast culture, potato quality control lab. There is a library used by the students. The graduates can find jobs in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Agricultural Research Institutes, other official institutions, agricultural co-operatives, processing plants for sugar beet, tobacco, forages, etc. and seed companies, and in private sectors which sell fertilizer and pesticides.
